Please Help......(I've Spent Days Trying To

Well, I've spent most of the week working on this mower and got everything together and gave it a try. Fully expected to hear those newly sharpened blades mounted on new spindals to hum!!

Not a chance! I could barely hear them, I thought those new spindals sure are quiet. But once I got in the grass it stopped cutting.

I have a 1995 Dynamark B&S 12hp riding mower with no chassie label or manual. I made the mistake of buying it used. It has a two blade deck. I found two different diagrams that showed the blade belt running around the blade pully's and going on the inside of the tension pully and off to the engine pully. The pully's on the new spindal's are the same diameter as the old spindal's so I do not understand whats wrong. Before the blade/spindal problem it worked fine. It seems to be struggling to get up to speed. Belt not tight enough I guess.....but no idea how to tighten it.

Any Idea friends?? Suggestion's or advice will be accepted!

Probably belt routed wrong. If it has an electric clutch belt should be tight at all times. If it is not tight, check the idle pulley to see if it is moving freely. If it is a manual engagement, again check the idler pulley at the end of the engagement lever. Stupid thing to say, but I'll say it. Remember V-pulleys accept the V-side of the belt, flat pulleys accept the flat side of the belt.

Nothing you said was stupid. How would you know that I know the difference between belts??

a V-belt is shaped like a V and a flat belt is flat. Spindle pulleys would be the same, shaped like a V or not.

Just noticed your from Ga. I grew up in Chamblee which is just a part of Atlanta now except ya can't read the business signs anymore.

I checked everything and all seems to be find. I checked a few manuals including a Murry manual. They have pic's of their deck and they are very similar. Makes me think the belt is routed correctly. Its just too loose and can't figure a way to tighten the stupid thing....

I'm stumped! And the grass is still growing......

Can to take a couple of pictures with how you have the belt routed, might be have some ideas if I can see it.
