Plastic carburetor

I have a DR trimmer that uses the plastic carburetor. My question is has anyone ever put one of these in the dip type carburetor cleaner? Will that stuff dissolve the material this carburetor made of?

You use soap and water in an ultrasonic cleaner.

Don't try the dip cleaner as it is not plastic safe.

In the last 16 yrs here there has not been a can of that toxic cleaner in my shop.

Hello S.,

You likely have a B&S Exi725 on this trimmer? They only run at one speed.

Carburetor dip is "overkill" on these carburetors. It will not hurt them, but there is very little to ever go wrong with them except the center insert with the jets or the float needle gives out from Ethanol fuel exposure in the heat.

While you are cleaning this, make sure to empty the tank and clean the fuel screen molded into the bottom of it.

Hi Star Tech,

The days of actual "Chem Dip" are gone only to be replaced with a useless, bad substitute for more money. I'm waiting for carburetor spray to be banned next.

Well I will stick with my USC and Dawn Ultra

Carburetor Spray banning will get done by Kennedy in flavor us using a toothbrush.
