Im replacing piston rings on my DYT 4000 18.5 HP OHV. Although the replacement rings i order based on model # do not fit, also oil ring is different style. I have exhausted myself trying to identify the exact set of rings needed and honestly could use some help if anyone has a clue. Thanks in advance.

What is the model number of your engine, and what set of rings did you order by part number so we can see your issue.

Will need the Model and type numbers... as well as the Date Code of the engine.

Looking at the Briggs IPL, it shows 1 part number for standard (594437) but when you get into the .020" over rings, thats where the date codes come into play. .020'' over only if you bore the cylinder. and you also need a .020 over piston.
and it appears you got the correct ones.
SET, Ring | (.020 Oversize)(Use with 1.97 Long Piston Pin) Used Before Code Date 06010200
So, are they not fitting on the piston, or are they not going into the cylinder bore?

Not fitting into the piston itself. As if the ring itself is too big for the slot
