Peerless Transaxle in my murray riding mower

I have a murray riding lawn mower with a peerless transaxle-6 speed and will not go into gear now. My question is should i try to open it up and fix the problem or will it just be less costly to find another one and what other riding mowers have the same transaxles..........Also how can i find a diagram of the transaxle so that i can properly take it apart to tinker with it?

Is it all the time or only when engine running that it does not go into gear?

Is it siezed linkage or is it the belt is still turning when brake/clutch applied and not allowing you to select because the transmission is turning?

The model number of the tranny would help, but I know that it is difficult to find. It is on a small tag on the side of the tranny. This website might help you
