Peerless 815 swappable with peerless 810?

I have a junky John Deere 108 and was told the transmission is sketchy. I guess they came with a Peerless 801. I bought a Peerless off of market place and after scrubbing it appears to be a model 815. Can I use that on the John Deere? Apparently the 815 came off of a simplicity.
