What are some of the best ways to decide your helpers pay rate, pay for the day or per yard?

You want to pay them per hour not per day or per job. :smile:Because per hour you could mow 3 yards in an hour and pay them $10 an hour or pay them $10 a yard and give them:eek: $30 for the same hour of work. And per day is to hard to keep up with ie: do you work all day, "did they work with you the hole day" , what if it rains half day ect. Per hour is the best way and the way people do it here is they start you out at minimum wage for the area and give you pay raises based on how you work, dress, use of your time, ect. Rember you pay them. Hope this helped:thumbsup:

Per hour. Spell out all situations, rain, equipment downtime, traffic jams, overtime, etc... Better for the both of you. Incentive raises can be beneficial to both of you. Be fair or eventually it'll cost you. An unhappy employee could easily "miss" seeing a rock and damage a blade or spindle. Share tips. An occasional lunch or tee shirt freebee means a lot to some guys. Don't forget to listen. Good luck.
