No engine cover ?? Or cosmetic plastic cover... No air shroud = overheating engine...... I am gonna send you a PM on here ..........

Correct cause if you had no air shroud then you would be starting it with a drill and socket, which is bad for your health..... LOL.....

I didn’t think the plastic cover was overly important and I give the mower a good blow off with my blower every use for cleanliness

Plastic cover is merely cosmetic....... It does keep the large stuff out though... Did you get my Pm ??

Well guess what guys ?? I jumped the gun again.......... I took it for granted he had the older style L Head Briggs... Nope he has the newer E series with the plastic carb on the Port side of the engine. I was reading a post earlier about a 12 year old engine a few minutes before.... When will I learn not to jump the gun ???

Anyway he gave me a call on my shop phone and we got it straight.... He didn't take the carb off so he was running with the choke on or partially closed all this time.... He even said that in his post about putting his hand in front of the carb......

In fact he wasn't far from me on his fishing trips down here in South Louisiana.... He got the instructions for cleaning the carb.. He had let the gas out from the drain plug. So it wasn't a total tear down and clean...

He said he will report back with the news after the repair..... At least it's gonna save him some cash on the muffler that he doesn't need.....
