Onan P220 Camshaft question

Is the points end of an Onan P220 camshaft supposed to be somewhat oval? I think not
The bearing seems to be intact and round
People, what causes this?

Yes or it will not open the valves then allow them to close again.
a lot of "quiet" cams are quite gentle so valves do not slam shut
Bad cam followers usually cause excessive cam wear as will valve guides that shift in the head
also low oil caused by being low or the slinger being defective

There is nothing wrong with the camshaft that I can see.

The ignition on the Onan P220 is not triggered off the camshaft; therefore, no points on the camshaft. The ignition is triggered off the crankshaft trigger ring.

And it does pays to have the service and parts manuals at hand.

Thanks StarTech and Bertmobile1. Found out that the "ovaled" not-gear-end is supposed to be that way in order for oil to make it into the bearing. I am good now :) - Ken
