I'm trying to help out a friend. He has an old Toro T2500 generator. The carb is in very bad condition but Toro says all of the parts are discontinued. I don't know what type of engine it is, except that it is a 4 stroke. The carb looks like a typical Walbro with the main jet through the bottom of the bowl. No primer.

What distinguishing marks should I look for on the carb to determine if it is a Walbro and what model ? A new bowl, bowl O-ring, O-ring seal/gasket, needle and float and I think it will be good to go !

A couple of pics I snipped from a video. The last one is to just show that the plug goes in the head at an angle, so I don't think this is a B&S or Tecumseh engine. The generator is from the 1980s.

According to the service manual, it is a Mikuni carb number BV21-17-35. It is Toro part number 55-2840, which as you say is no long available. I have been unable to find a parts breakdown of this carb on the Mikuni site, but will continue to look. My suggestion is to contact Mikuni and see if they have a rebuild kit available. Listed is a parts breakdown and service manual, which may help you. I'll let you know if I find some more info.

Thanks !

The BV series was somewhat popular except for the BV21 (I'm guessing 21mm bore ?) back in it day. Possibly used on Suzuki and/or Robin engines. Very few if any parts available. I will try contacting Mikuni.

BTW, your links did not work.
