self propelled model.

It won't fold up easily. The handlebars have to come apart and the drive speed selector lever has to be completely removed. It's possible but not really necessary. If u put it in your truck straight in with the handlebars sticking out the back u could use a bungee cord or string to tie the kid down. Probably easier that way. Looks like a good mower though.

that sounds like the way to go. what do you think of these old snappers?
I am just getting interested and have heard good reports about these
older snappers. I am thinking this one may be from the eighties.

Yes that's an '80 model. On top of the deck right behind the engine these a sticker with the model and serial numbers. That looks like a 21401P if I had to guess. The s/n is an eight-digit number and the first digit represents the last digit in the year it was made. If the first digit in the s/n is 4 then it's a 1984 model.

The old ones are very solid and those Briggs engines are easy to work on and parts are cheap. Once u get it home and clean it up it should be a great mower for years to come. I'd love to see more pics of it.

Wow $25! Yes u scored. That's great it's running so well also. Can't say I'm not jealous. Ok I'm going to take a stab at the model # and year made. Model is 21401P, and 1983. Check the deck serial #, 8-digit number on the deck behind engine. If it starts with a 3 it's a 1983 model.

it is a 21401p and the first number in the serial number is a five.
I ordered a new air filter with the foam pre filter. the one on it was crumbling.
would like to pick up the side discharge chute some time,it appears they are
still available new but would be about $35 to $40 with shipping. will use as is
with the bagger for now and look for a used chute.
thanks for replies

Old Snapper Walk Behind Mower

I have a old Snapper walk behind self propelled mower which has 2 drive belts the belt that goes to the motor is missing. Having a hard time finding the correct belt. The model # is DP2114098 any help finding this belt would be appreciated.

I also need a drive cable for a Husqvarna model HU775H 775Ex 7.75./ need a brake cable for Troy Built 625 series Model 122T05-8762-31

I think I can help on the snapper. Go to jacks small engine for com and type in part number 7012353YP for that belt. I think your model number for your mower is actually DP21409B.

Rhal I just noticed that the bag chute on your mower isn't original. It's from a '79 or '80, they were shaped slightly differently then. Not quite as curved and mount a little differently on the deck. That's why there's a hole exposed right behind your chute on the side of the deck. I'm sure it works fine but I just saw that and thought I'd mention.

That looks like the same model I bought used, but in almost new, condition from a friend who was moving from TN to Idaho. He bought it new around 84' or 85'. I used it six or seven years until I inherited my dad's snapper rear engine. Both were good mowers. The latter belongs in the Mower Hall of Fame if there is one. The walk behind was the best walk behind I've ever owned, although I have a 2002 cub cadet model s621 that has been great. The snapper was built like a little tank but the cub's self-propel is easier on the hands.
