I've got a 5 gallon can (with 3 gallons) with very old gas, maybe 3 or 4 years. Never could figure out what to do with it.. as in..how to get rid of it.
Any suggestions. ?

You should be aware that old gas is one of the first problems that happens to an engine. Its also one of the easiest to remedy, every couple of months pour it in your fairly full vehicle.Use only ethanol free gas and it will go a whole lot smoother

I am currently refurbishing an old yardman 30" 1998, It lay for 3years with gas in it, when I was finished I tried to start it and it started first time and ran, and that was unleaded, so just use it along with some good petrol.

You could pour some in a shallow pan and light it. Will smoke a lot. Probably burn with few ashes. Repeat until it is all gone.

For fun put a little in a soup can and try to light it. Unless the can is full it won't burn. If the can is full it will extinguish before it goes very far.

Most cities/counties have a hazardous waste disposal facility. Look them up, often free for casual citizens, charged for businesses. For example I can dispose of used tires at my county commissioner's office for no charge, as long as I am reasonable. Can't bring a truck load in.

Or mix old fuel with used engine oil and use it to light a burn pile.

Anyone else just pour old gas on their neighbors plants when they go to the store?

Come on folks first you test it to if is viable then if not then find a way to depose of it. Burning the non-flammable fuel works best when your local hazardous waste people don't want to mess with it. If still viable then mix it with fresh fuel and use it up right away.

When testing only use a very small amount when applying a lit match or lighter flame
