Hi,

Long time lurker. Really appreciate all the people on here willing to give solid advice based on years of actual field experience.

I'm a homeowner but looking to buy a hydro walk behind. Have a bit over an acre and don't mind walking it but can't take the time when I'm only cutting 21" at a pass. Also reason for the walk behind is that I've got a lot curves that I think would be handled well with the walker. I'm looking to buy used. My question is this: Is there a general consensus on when age becomes an issue? Reason I ask is that I've got a line on a nice, well kept Viking but it seems like it might be starting to age a little bit. It's a 2004 w/528hrs on it. At what point do you pass up something even when it's well kept simply based on age. Sort of like not buying the car owned by the little old lady who only drove it to church on Sunday just because lack of miles means the problems just haven't shown themselves yet.

Thanks.

I would say age only becomes an issue when parts and service become hard to find (assuming it's in good condition). I think a 2004 would still be decent, considering it's Exmark. But that's just my opinion.

500 hours is nothing on an Exmark Viking
