Oil over filled

I put too much oil in , it's about 1/2-3/4" over the full line. Engine was warm. I am unable to unscrew the bolt to let some out. I'm using a 10mm socket. Can I still run the mower?

What is the make, model and type number off of the engine ID plate or sticker? Scag did not build the engine.

I have run them overfilled before and not had an issue, but some engines will smoke or purge oil out of the breather and into the air cleaner housing.

If the engine has an oil filter, pull it off a drain it out and reinstall. After that, run it, shut down and recheck the oil level on the stick.

So when an engine is overfilled, the level can cause frothing, where the oil gets really foamy. Air in the oil is not good for lubrication. Personally I would find a way to remove the drain and let a little out. There are kits at places like Harbor Freight that can pull the oil out with a hand pump and hose.
