I have a 1995 model 314/8 bought new and had no issues with it until the other day. While mowing the tractor just stopped dead, engine not turning over nothing. The battery was 5 years old so got a new one and put in, cleaned the terminals but still nothing. Any one out there have any ideas on what to check and the best way to about testing them. Thanks

So, what happens when you turn the key? Does it turn over? If not, electrical. Check safety switches. If you bought it new, you should know about them. Make sure battery is connected properly. Check voltage at solenoid. There is a terminal on solenoid that goes straight to battery, the other big one goes to starter. You can jumper from battery to starter terminal and it should turn the motor. Check voltage, is your new battery charged?
If it did turn over, still check safety switches. You can check spark, oil fill, and fuel. Pull fuel line off carb, does it flow freely? I'm sure a real expert will speak up. It would also be helpful if you provided the model number.

Yup sounds electrical. Ignition, safeties or mice chewing wires.
