No start without jump

I have an older craftsman only starts with jump box with key so not start issues I assume. Just replaced alternator what ele could it be
 
Do you have a volt meter ?

Yes test or have battery tested for resting voltage, & Load tested for Amps..

Auto parts stores can do this FREE if you don't have the tester.

But if you do, check voltage, get it started & test voltage again, this should now read higher if Alt is putting out properly.
