I have a ghopper 725, water cooled. When my wife parked it she said it was running very rough like it was missing. I just got home from a job and tried to crank it to troubleshoot it but I have no fire at all. I replaced the external coil and have 12.1 v at the hot side of the coil. It has an exciter assembly inside the distributor, is there any way to check this? Thanks for reading this.

I sounds to me you are going to replace parts till it runs. I guess nothing wrong with that. I would say when the parts get too expensive take it somewhere where they can test these parts. Maybe you can just take the parts them selfs and get them tested. It looks like this is something more then just runs off a mag.
Thanks for responding, I took the mower to the shop, we pulled the distributor out and checked wires to exciter for damage. Saw none. Reinstalled and still have no pulse from the pickup, looks like the pulse coil inside the distributor is gone, have been looking for replacement online, but having hard time.
