GT 1100 wheel horse no spark. Serial is 252417-0664-01. Took engine out and I'm turning the fly wheel and still no spark. You guys have helped with the last post and have helped me get some more parts for it. The old coil works and I tried making my own spark plugs holder. Didn't work. I know the fly wheel magnet is good but not the inside of the flywheel. Or Maybe turning it there wrong way is bad for it?

Magnets on the inside of the flywheel are for charging. Questions I have are: did you set the air gap at .010”, could you have mounted the coil inside down, why aren’t you using the old coil, what do you mean by spark plug holder, how are you testing for spark, if you are replacing the coil what part number is it. You need to paint us a better picture of what is going on for us to help you. Don’t know if you have this manual. Please post the code number. https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B6NaqjIxWV1ycG8wd0s3Z2Q2X00

They are polarity sensitive so if you spin the flywheel backwards ( or put the magneto on upside down ) it will not work
The size of the spark is proportional to the speed the magnets pass the coil , too slow = no spark

The old coil is in too peices because of mice. Made a nest right there and chewed through the spark plugs wires. My bad I'm usually pretty good at small engines, but not describing my issue. I made a makeshift pull start by rapping twine around the pulley for the belt and pulled that I did get spark with the old coil. I just had me hand on the exposed wire and pulled. Did get a shock. The new coil is different and I need to order the correct part. That part number is 398811 just copy and paste that into a search engine and it will bring up the part.

Thanks for the manual. I did not have it. Just got this at an action a month or two ago.

398811 is the correct coil for that engine, it only looks different because it is a New magnetron coil, which doesn't need the points and condenser to fire.
