No forward or reverse after belt from engine to deck broke

did you check the T-Box?
Yes, and the drive gear/pinion on the vertical shaft is not turning while the shaft itself is turning. I've not been able to locate a parts breakdown to see if that gear is pinned, keyed, or splined, or if it can be replaced. May be better to just find a replacement box.

You might check with a local dealer and see what they quote you I find they are cheaper than DC website. They do not show a parts break down of the box. When I worked for a DC dealer you could buy the T-Box cheaper than the parts. They show it is a fine splined box you might take one of the pumps loose and slide it out to make sure it is a fine splined box as they made a coarse and fine splined box. You do not have to take the pumps out to replace the T-Box just take them loose and pull them out and take the box off. You may have to tie them off to hold them out. Hope this helps.

If you know a good machinist he may be able to cut a key in the shaft and the gear. I run a 75W-180 Gear oil in the T-Box. Was yours dry. DC recommends checking oil in T-Box every 50 hours.

DC makes a kit, so you never have to open the box again. It is a small tank that has a hose going to a fitting you put in the top plate. I put a vent hose on mine so it can push the air out of the box as the oil level drops in the box. If you do this the vent hose has to be higher than the oil level in the box in the kit. You have at an extra fitting in the top of the box for the hose.
