one small oring goes on the main jet which usually falls out when plastic part is removed. not sure by picture if its the one you have the arrow pointer. By the way Nikki carbs are a pain

The main jet is the tiny brass thing between the pilot jet and the brassi tube that has not been drilled top right in the photo.
There must have been 2,000,000 of these defective kits made.
You will find the float is too small for the carb ( off a Nikki knock off ) and there is some thing else wrong with these kits, but I can not remember right now.
Had dozens of customers come in wondering why the kit did not work.
The kit from Briggs is $ 38.00
The kits on Amazon are $ 6.00 for a good reason.

I got it around the main jet, but it (with the jet) wouldn't go all the way to down the hole. At least not without a little more force than I felt comfortable with. It goes on the first grove, right?

Yes a little silicon spray will go a long way
Put a punch in your vise
put the housing on the punch
use another flat object to push down directly on the top of the tube to avoid braking the tube out of it's base.
They should be reasonable tight as the O ring has to stop fuel bypassing the main jet.

And now I remembered the other problem with the cheap Chinese kits.
The seals are all made from neoprene rubber not Buytl rubber so they go to jelly when exposed to petrol.
