Completely agree that is over kill for .4 acres. Will take longer to put fuel in the mower than it will to mow the lawn. Lol

Totally overkill, I realize this. Ive always been a buy once, cry once type of person.

It seemed like in a lot of threads I read everyone recommends getting a commercial mower over a residential otherwise you will regret it. I guess I may have taken those a little too literally.

I will be financing it for the 48 months. I figured 4k gets a good one that will suffice or I might as well spend another 1500 and get a better one. It doesnt make or break the payments fo rme over 4 years to add another 1500 bucks. At least thats the way my brain is processing this.

My other two top choices were the Gravely ZT XL, or he Hustler Raptor SD. I just wanted the Snapper more.

On another note, the dealer just emailed me. The mower sold. The search continues.

Yea, I may end up doing that. Ive only got another month of mowing so ordering one might not make alot of sense.

I have to agree with the others about this being an overkill for .4 of an acre. Now that the ZTR you had an your sights on has been sold take a breather and think this through.

If all you have is .4 of an acre, a residential ZTR with a maximum cut of 48" would more than meet your needs and last a long time. Save the $$$!! My only suggestion would be that you purchase the ZTR from a dealer so you can easily obtain warranty service, parts, etc.

Yeah I can understand where your coming from but 5 to 7K to mow less than half an acre seems a extreme. You can get the 42" Raptor with the Kawasaki FR engine for like $2799 the only draw back is it has the EZT drives but for what your doing and the amount your cutting it would last you forever. If it were me and I purchased a commercial ZTR I'd be looking for a few more yards to mow and make some extra money or the wife would have my butt.

I second that idea. Thought about doing that myself. I enjoy mowing with my zero turn anyway. Could pick up 5 to 10 lawns next year and maybe make a little vacation money.

Well instead of buying a new ZTR right now I'm going to use my old mans backup tractor. He has a cub cadet 3185 with a 54"deck that doesn't get used much. He said i could have it, but I'm thinking of just using it for the rest of this season and look into a ztr again in the spring.

Thanks all for all of the input! I will be back, I hope. Lol

Another great feature of the snapper pro lineup is the iCd deck. Lays down the same beautiful cut as a 12k dollar Ferris.

snapper and ferris are essentially the same thing one has suspension and one doesn't. but both run the "icd" deck. Ferris isnt all that the suspension is weird but the $12k one has a diesel engine. I'd buy a snapper pro before I'd ever consider a ferris. I run Scag mowers and just made the switch from Dixie chopper.

It depends on which ferris you are looking at purchasing. I agree that I would buy a s150xt or s200xt before I would buy an is700 because there isn't much travel on the suspension, but the suspension on the is2100 is great. I own an s150xt and my dad has an s200xt and they are very good mowers, but I would take an is2100 over either of them any day. I know they are almost identical, but the is2100 rides much better. My dad's mower even has the suspension insert. The is2100 still rides better.
