My grandson gifted a Toro/Wheelhorse 266H to me. It seems to be in very good condition. I have changed the oil and filter ,it doesn't smoke and runs quiet. Model# 72083/Ser#4903036. According tithe engine model (CV16S) it is a 16hp. twin. Spec#61514/Ser#2415705217. What is the pros and cons regarding this Kohler engine so I know what to look for. The hydrostatic reservoir is marked 10w-30 oil.The hydro oil is very dark, should I change it and if so what is the best oil to use. I can't pin down a year of manuf. for the tractor. Any info and help will be very helpful and appreciated.

This manual shows a single cyl. engine...My tractor is a V-Twin??? The data label shows it to be a CV16S. I'm confused.

You will have to double check the engine numbers. A Kohler CV16S is a single cylinder engine. According to the unit specs, that is the engine which goes in a Toro 266H.

I’m totally confused. A Kohler CV16S is a single cylinder engine. The tag says single cylinder engine, but you say it is a twin. The single cylinder shroud will not fit on a twin. I’ve been working on small engines for over 60 years and have no clue how this thread makes any sense. I hope you or someone else can teach me what is going on in this universe.

This is going nowhere...forget it...
