Some of those units may take as little as 14 oz. Look at your owners manual as on some units you screw the dip stick in when checking oil level and others just set it on top of the tube. Slight slant is there for better cutting and mulching. Just like ride on decks. 95% of people newer notice it.
Funny on other mowers I use to level it out lol
Owners manual doesn't mention oil capacity just says screw it in and check
I put 17 oz it's a bit too much.

late to the party but the manual on the 22" recycler I am working on is conflicted. It says 20 oz but it is full about 14 oz when fully drained. One part of owner's manual just says check with dipstick in then the next paragraph it says once oil level is ok then secure. A few paragraphs later it says screw dipstick in to check oil. I went with screwing the dipstick in. Most of my engines take slightly less than the manual states.
