Hello folks, new to the forums here and new to snappers, but i'm an old gearhead at heart. A family friend offered up this old snapper rer, series 6 i believe, for free just to clear out his barn. It had a couple of flat tires, seat is trashed, carb linkage had been eroded away after the battery leaked on it while standing up. He said it had a fairly new briggs 12 horse motor on it when it was last run a few years ago. I picked it up, brought it home, and dug into it the next day. I'm actually very impressed with the quality and condition. All the cables, springs, belts, etc are in place and in good condition. I aired the tires, cleaned the tank, replaced the fuel line and filter, cleaned out the carb, replaced the air filter and battery, and gave it a small cleanup. After about half a day of effort it is alive and running. I still have some cleaning to do and lubing everything up underneath. The blade is rubbing against the deck when i engage it, due to the deck having a rip and bend in the front of it, so that will require a little welding and bending, but other than that, she seems happy to be back. I am new to these mowers, so would appreciate any tips or advice, or anything i need to pay attention to.
Thanks,

A can of red Rustoleum paint and a seat and it looks like you are ready to go.
