Hello folks.Murray finally bit the dust after 16 yrs.Briggs engine.Time for a new riding mower before spring.

Whats the best option for less then $2000 out the door?

Acre and half.Few obstacles.Mostly flat to 20 degree slope.

Close to me is a tsc, kubota, sears and cub cadet dealer.

Thank you.

i and alot of others on here will advise you to buy from a dealer not a big box store since the big box stores dont do the service work its sent out and a pain in the butt always deal with a dealer that services what they sell it may cost you more at first but will be worth it in the long run good luck

That is going to be hard to accomplish for your budget for many reasons. To start off, 1.5 acres is a lot for a < $2000 mower. Also, they won't be able to be safe on a 20 degree slope....15 degrees is USUALLY the max. A lot of the lawn tractors are above that price, also. I doubt you will be able to get a Kubota for in your budget! I will let others decide what is best for you and I will contribute when needed.
Good luck!

As lmf said that's going to be hard to accomplish for your budget. I don't know what you have for a 20 degree slope but most lawn tractors are rated at 15 degrees for safety and the same for GT's.
I can tell you you will never buy a Kubota for that budget and I sure wouldn't waste my money at a big box store so that about leaves you with a cub cadet and if your heart is set on a lawn tractor you could buy the CC LTX1045 or 1046 with that budget. Personally I'd check on Craigslist and look for a good solid used commercial walk behind maybe 36" to 48" in size it would be the only mower that I know of that would handle a 20 degree slope and be half way safe.

Thanks for respones.

Stopped at the cub dealer.Dealer suggests a LTX1042kw $1799.Not available for a few weeks.

He based it off of previous mower of murray select 16.5hp(briggs)with 42" deck.

He did have a LTX1040 with kohler engine(19hp) for $1499.Said the kw model fit my needs better.

The murray did the job just fine for me.I may be slightly high on the grade.Only a small portion has a incline.Mostly flat.

Is LTX1042kw a decent mower for the money?

Is there wiggle room at a cub dealer? The LTX 1046kw is just out of my budget.

The LTX 1042 is a good mower, that Professional grade Kawasaki 18hp v-twin should do everything you need and more. You'll be real happy with that mower. Great Choice
