I've just received my brand new John Deere d-130 riding mower today 4-27-15. Everything seems perfect, runs great except for the idle; its rough a little jerky and is hinting at popping back through maybe an exhaust valve? I know the logical thing is to return to the dealer, but could this be a non issue due to the fact it is not yet broken-in (only .2 hours on the meter). Any suggestions or comments are welcome. The engine is Briggs-Stratton 22 hp 724cc V-twin cyl. (rough and uneven idle speed when idled down, maybe a spark plug going out?) Shouldn't idle be fairly smooth on this V-twin? Thanks for any advice...........
I just put a new 21 HP Intek on my mower a few days ago and is super smooth at slow or fast idle..
Engine started in 2 seconds with no throttle on first try..
Should be silky smooth.
Take it back and let them argue you out of a full refund in favour of a warrantee repair.
No predelivery again, very sloppy.
Just check that there is oil in the engine before you take it back.
Even though not putting oil in a new mower is a dealer fault, using it that way is considered user neglect.
Thanks to rarebear and bertsmobile1(from way down under+) for quick response and advice! Goin' on road trip back to dealer to have this idle situation checked and hopefully fixed for a smoother idle. Cheers: OK Kid
