I am new to the forum, but recently have looked at selling my 52 inch Scag Tiger Cub because I need something bigger. However, I found a new 61 inch deck and wondered if I could just buy it and replace the deck? I know it will be additional load on my 25 HP Kholer, but wondered if the Scag decks are universal and should it fit as well as if anyone has done this or had any recommendation? Will it be too much for my Kholer to handle even if I keep the grass pretty short?

Welcome to LMF...

If you can get it mounted... your engine will not notice any difference in the load...
Even in heavy grass, with a large deck you can always cut with Less of a width, and overlap... :smile:KennyV

I'm looking for a new 72" deck for my 2003 Scag Tiger Cub. Mine is rusted through in several places.
The price of a new deck is outrageous.
What did you pay for yours?

Get the model info and serial number for your machines and go to the Scag website, find the link for manuals on the L/H side, find the manual(s) for your specific machines. There you will find the parts lists for the different decks etc. This will give you the specifics of what is needed to make deck changes. As deck size increases, the blade length increases also and to keep within the Federal guidelines of blade tip speed, the deck pulley sizes differ along with other parts, so check it out. Engine HP is of concern when increasing deck size.
