New FS-56 CE

Yesterday, I had to replace my 10 year old Echo SRM 225. It was tired. It would not stay running. I did everything possible to keep it in service. The compression was just too low to justify putting any more money in it.
So, I went to my local Stihl dealer and bought a new FS-56CE. I truly hope that I get the service out of this machine as I did the Echo.
The first thing that I noticed was that there is no grease port for the head. That doesn't give me a warm and fuzzy feeling.

No worries.I also have 56 ala fs.You can remove the head,and with a grease gun or syringe,squeeze your goo on and put back together.Not too hard.

I still don't like it. I'll have to live with it until it dies. When it does, I going back to Echo or Shindawa. The Echo has a better balance, a better choke set-up, and better guard.

Interesting as I just went thru something similar with my SRM-225. Hard to start and it did not like to run wide open. Went to check the spark plug and damaged the ignition lead trying to pull it off the top of the plug. This lead attaches to the ignition module.

Oh well it is old so I replaced the lead and module. MAN! What a difference! Apparently the module was marginal but had not failed. It's back to starting and running as new.

Surprised the heck out of me. But glad to get it back working good again.

Mine was completely worn out. It had very little compression.
