I bought a DR Power Trimmer, XT model last month. Took between 20-30 pulls of starter cord both times to start.
Now it will only start if I sprat starter fluid in the carb(was told today by a mechanic to never spray that into a small carb). The priming bulb does not build up any pressure when pumping multiple times so I'm leaning towards it not working or otherwise defective.

I am bringing it to a warranty shop over an hour away but I'd love to avoid the long drive if someone here had a suggestion on what else I might try.

The engine is Chinese(Chongoing Rato Technology Co, LTD), with a manufacture date of Aug, 2020(but my trimmer manuf date is Mar 3, 2023) and my trimmer shipment was received by me Mar 27, 2023.

If the primer bulb isn't moving any fuel and you can start with the starting fluid it sounds to me that there is a leak in the primer hose or the bulb is bad. It should be soft.

Thank you. I am taking it to a warranty shop Monday and hoping it is something minor. I've had my eye on this trimmer for years and I can say (when it is running) it is hands down the best trimmer I've ever used.

Yes ake it in for a warranty service and make sure you get something written on PAPER and keep it in a safe place just in case you got the Monday morning hangover special.
