For the first time in my life, I have to mow my own lawn. So I bought a very nice self-propelled walk-behind mower and used it for the first time on Saturday. It has the speed-control lever located beneath the handle and it seemed natural to use my thumb to squeeze the lever. I mowed for 1.5 hours and today my thumb is still numb from the pressure and vibration.
Reaching over the handle to squeeze the lever with my fingers put stress on my wrists. I suffer from carpal tunnel syndrome and tendonitis in my hand and unfortunately, a riding mower is not in my budget right now.
Does anyone have any suggestions to make my mowing less painful?
