Murray model #461007X92A Briggs 21 hp opposed twin 461707-0116-E1 I have (spark )and good compression. Seem to have good fuel supply but just spins over without even a sputter? Could there still be a electrical problem fuse is ok and set switch ok. How to either isolate the problem to the electrical system but I have (spark) how to bypass switches brake etc. On this mower you can stand beside it and turn over the engine and get spark at the plugs. Maybe I don't understand what that black wire that goes from the magneto then to yellow wire that seems to go to all the switches doe's It want start connected or disconnected? Thank for anyones help ASAP!!!!!!!!:confused2:

Remove the air cleaner and pour a small amount of gas into the into and then try to start. If it starts and then dies after a couple of seconds then you aren't getting fuel, If still no start, then it is either spark or compression, or flywheel key is sheared (not likely, but possible).

I use the small amount of gas in the carburetor throat but I measure about a teaspoon for starters. If I just dump a small amount it is more often than not way too much and end up with a wet flooded spark plug. Now I'm back to less than square one. At square one I had a dry plug.

Yes, thanks for your reply! I did a basic compression test where you hook up a gauge to each cylinder one at a time and turn the engine over until the gauge stops moving. I have 100 or better. I've try spraying starter fluid in carburetor, nothing, directly into both cylinders and nothing? I had removed the flywheel to replace the starter and also the stator while it was off and put it back on and the fly key was ok? Could it be a going bad magneto but still getting a week enough spark to not cause combustion? I have nothing to go on in the right direction?

I'm wondering if the coil is strong enough? Fire the plugs outside the engine, but under compression they won't? I've seen that more than enough times! That's all I can think
of really. Coils are troublesome Gremlins!!
