Mulching mowers?

Hello,

Looking at buying a push mower...

Is there any benefit to a dedicated mulching push mower over a combo type mower with 4 blades that has mulching/bagging/rear discharge?

Which mowers would you suggest for mulching?

A dedicated mulching mower generally mulches better than a universal mower.
Universal usually means dose everything to a just acceptable standard.
The down side is the can not be used on very long grass and there are a lot of times when mulching is bad like when the weeds have gone to seed when you were away on holidays .

Best mulching mower out there today is the Toro model 21381. Yes, it is a 3 in 1 unit, but will give you the best cut and last the longest.

i have a toro i belive.....
it has a honda 160GCV on it, mulching mower, came with bag, side discharge, and of course the discharge area for the bag ( duh Lol )
i personally love it, is use it on customers yards that a riding mower won't fit, or if the terrain is to rough.
and as rivets said, they actually DO give a very good cut, and it mulches the leaves and grass very well, as long as your not cutting grass to tall

My vote is for a Honda HRS216VKA or a Toro Super Recycler (any model, Honda engine preferable) Many people will tell you that the super recycler is the best on the market (which it cold be) but the Honda HRS with the optional quadra-cut blade setup has four cutting edges and a smooth domed deck which makes for a good place for grass to get cut up into fine pieces. At the end of the day, mulching is going to be more about the cutting conditions than the mower; but a good now certainly helps!
