A lot of people use mulching blades all year, it's actually better for the lawn because the blades of grass are cut finer and break down faster and helps feed the soil. I use Gator Blades all year around.

As a rule I run gator blades year round.
Last year with all the rain we had I had to change to a high lift blade because the grass was growing so fast and was cutting wet grass. Gator blades to not do well in tall thick wet grass.
