MTD Snoflite 5/24 Bevel gear

I am in the need of a bevel gear for my MTD snowblower.

The old one almost split in half at the key because the previous owner took out the shear bolts.

Part #717-0457
(Also 717-04579 & 717-0457B later on I think)

Everywhere I've looked say it's dicontinued, so I am going to try and "refurbish" the one I have, but will continue to look for a replacment. Any help or leads would be greatly appreciated, Thanks, Rocky

Is not using a shear bolt is a lot like using a steel keyway on a flywheel? Sure can do a lot damage.
