Have a very little used MS170. Carb was gummed up, yea I know now. Got new from dealer, installed, new fuel lines, filter, spark plug. went to fire up, nothing. I am getting spark at plug, blue flame, sprayed carb cleaner into carb and tried starting it. No start at all. what am I missing? any help appreciated.

Things you can do without special tools.

Remove the spark plug and the starter.
Put a pencill down the plug hole and turn the flywheel with your fingers slowly.
The magnet in the flywheel should be just leaving the magneto when the piston is at TDC.
And / or remove the flywheel & check the cast in key if it is cracked or broken get a new flywheel.
While the plug is out have a look at the piston.
Before you put the plug back in heat it with a torch till it stops smoking then install it ( burned) finger tight and try to start again.

slide the carb off the studs but leave the fuel lines connected.'
Turn the carb sideways and blow air through it simulating running
If the carb is connected properly a good flow of fuel mist should come out the engine side.

While it is off shine a strong torch down the manifold and have a look at the bottom of the bore.
Slide the muffler off and also have a look at the bore
Any scratches and the cylinder is scrap metal .
Put the carb back on but leave the muffle off ( or loose ) and try to start
If it starts then the muffler is clogged.
