I bought a mr. funnel a few years ago so I tried it out recently. I filtered gasoline and the engine would not run when I poured the filtered fuel in the tank. I tried to contack mr. funnel numbers on the web and the numbers do not work. I thought it would work well but I was wrong.

Hello T.,

Was the engine starting and running fine before the "filtered fuel" was put in?

I used my Mr. funnel quite a bit without issues until I accidently ran over it with my service truck.

If the fuel was aged, it has lost most of its volatility.

I'm not sure if the funnel has a "shelf life" where it can just sit around for years.

The transition from a summer blend to a winter blend E-10 fuel is also an issue in many places this time of year.

In my area, a couple of years ago we had an issue with one of the fuel depots because the fuel got mixed with clear industrial silicone to "bulk it up" the fuel. It took quite a bit of testing and investigation before they finally found the cause. Several stations were affected and multiple lawsuits followed.

In another incident, a different fuel depot was delivering known bad water contaminated bulk fuels to unsuspecting independent small country stores.

I use Mr Chevron, and Ms Shell who will provide fresh fuel for a nominal fee. If the fuel will degrade by the time it is needed again, drain it and use it in the car before it does that.

the funnel webpage gives this as a support email. il: [email protected] Here is their facebook page. The other sites spin and spin. Never mind - here is an article. They are out of business

In a separate report by The Wall Street Journal, First Brands Group — which also is the parent company of parent company of such RV brands as Bulldog, Draw-Tite, Reese and Tekonsha — has been unable to find financing or a buyer to continue most of its companywide operations, the bankrupt auto-parts supplier said as it laid off employees in its aftermarket businesses Monday.

I have no less than three Mr Funnels - small, medium & large.
The first two use a single filter, the last, two filters.
Reason for so many is that the small is used on my mowers/stationary engines and the medium /large on my home built aircraft.
The small accommodates low fuel flow for small tanks.
The medium is my traveling funnel - takes up less space but care must be taken when refuelling, as it does not accomodate high fuel flows.
The large, used for refuelling at home, can pretty much take all the fuel flow you can throw at it.

I rarely see water in my fuel, when I do the Mr Funnel seems to catch it very well.

I have two complaints with the Mr Funnel design;
  • They don't come with lids/caps for the bowl & outlet, to keep the inside of the funnel clean & reduce the smell of fuel when kept in the vehicle.
  • The underside of the bowl should have ridges, slightly raising the bowl from the tank surface, to better allow air to escape when filling fast.

:devilish:
