one cylinder or two? If both died, I would try spraying a little berrymans b12 into carb to see what that does. If the engine spins properly, it is a dual cylinder engine, and both cylinders are dead, then it has to be something common to both. That probably rules out spark and compression. Common items would be oil sender if you have one, ignition switch, basically anything that would kill both coils, and fuel.
OP doesn't have spark.
 
Pull the kill wires off the coils. IF the coils are good, should run the fuel tank dry.

Ground the clamp end TO the engine block. Other pointed end hunt around the plug boot for spark. If you have spark from the coils only, move the pointed end away from the plug boot. This will check max gap distance the coil is firing. Need 0.25" or longer in spark jumping distance.

Can you tell me where the oil sensor is? I see it on the parts diagram, but couldn’t find it on my engine.
 
Yes, I guess. Parts manual says oil psi sensor.
From the factory oil pressure switches on mowers aren't typically wired to kill the ignition. That doesn't mean someone couldn't have rewired it, but they are normally wired to turn on a light as killing the engine could put the equipment operator in a dangerous situation. Equipment that doesn't move a person like a generator or trash pump would likely be wired to kill the ignition, but I've never seen a mower wired that way from the factory, at least not in the US. Would you be able to post the engine model #?
 
Okay here’s the latest, and I could kick myself.
Was thinking about the carb and maybe some of the members are correct in assessing the problem even though I said gas was flowing. I was monkeying around with the fuel pump hoses and noticed a problem with the fuel pump. Maybe the person before me fooled with it? One screw wasn’t even connected to anything. I had never seen a fuel pump like this before so I removed the valve cover and discovered that the fuel pump became dislodged from the diaphragm and levers inside. I think I can put everything back together correctly with proper o rings and secure the screws properly.
Evidently I am getting spark. Thanks for your thoughts. Will let you all know when it runs again.
