I have a 2006 Husqvarna yth2348, started having running problems. The mower is hard to crank and once it's been running for a while it'll big down and shut off. Will restart after cooling off. All new fuel system (filter, pump, lines, carb), new plugs, new battery, even replaced the muffler. It started and ran fine without the muffler ok waiting for new one to be delivered. Installed new muffler and it died again. Input?

Engine model #? Probably on a valve cover. Eg: 442707-1234-E1

Maybe the tank vent is clogged?

Maybe you are running the carb to rich, one day i was bored and i straight piped my mower?, but when ever i revved it and let off the throttle it would cut off, it was because since the engine is not working as hard to push air out the pipe, it just needed more fuel because of the open headers, but for your case it would be the complete opposite, try moving your mixture screw a bit on the lean side with the muffler on and tell us what happens.

Two things I would check. First is the valve clearance, as I have seen where they are too loose and when the engine warms up, it can’t draw enough fuel into the cylinder. Second, would be the muffler itself. I’ve seen where muddoggers, wasps, will build a nest inside closing off the opening. This will not allow the exhaust gases to fully escape. Forget adjusting the mixture and Logert small engines don’t really have headers. Post what you know, not assume.

Rivets, he said he ordered a new one, and he installed it, and it did the same thing.
It COULD be possible, but i dont think anyhting built a nest in it for the short period of time hes had the new one.

Logert there are NO headers on a small engine, mufflers are attached directly to the block. Know what you are talking about before posting.

After reading your post again: did you measure compression? Is it possible that the engine is having some serieus wear? (Hard to crank and shutting down when warm)
Is there any smoke when running?
