I have an older Snapper mower I bought used. It has worked fine for 2 years with the exception of being very difficult to start when hot. I recently changed the oil by tipping the mower. Since then, it has started up, run for a minute or two, then it dies. It does not smoke. The plug looks a little black, but not soot covered. The air filter is absolutely filthy.

I'm only $50 invested in this mower. I would like to know if I can fix it by either changing a plug, air filter, or removing the carb and cleaning it out. Is there any more fatal or expensive damage that could have occurred here? Blown oil seals, etc.?
Thanks.

Well, you will definitely need to clean the air filter!

Try to clean the spark plug with water and soap and then dry it very good.

Your dirty air filter is choking the engine which is starving for air

When you tipped the mower, did you tip it to the same side as the air filter, or the opposite side?

opposite side. Air filter is not oil soaked, just filthy. Plan to change that. Plan to plug, air filter. If that does not work, attempt to clean out carb. If all this fails, are there any other relatively cheap problems it could be?
