I have a john Deere la135 hydrostatic with 22hp briggs. My wife was mowing with it a few weeks ago and said it started sputtering like it was out of fuel, the tank is full, we'll she finished mowing with it but now it won't start, the engine just turns. I just noticed the inside of the see through fuel filter is crushed, I don't know how it got crushed but the insides don't look right. Could that be a reason it's not starting now? There's not much fuel in the filter anyways and I figured with the insides messed up that could be it. It has approx. 60 hrs on it and I just replaced all filters and plugs on it about a month ago. Please help!!!

Fuel filters are cheap and easy to change so do so first thing.
I would check for water in fuel. The best way is to carefully remove the solenoid on the bottom of the float bowl and see what's in the bowl. You also could remove the fuel filter and pour the contents into a pan to check for water.
