Mower blades hitting the underside of the mower ? Advice please

I've a Mountfield rotary mower and this evening hit a rock whilst mowing. Immediately afterwards it started to make a terrible noise and its clear the blades are now hitting the front of the underside of the mower ? if you turn the mower over the blades don't touch the side (but there is an obvious gouge where they have) and nor do they if the mower is run slowly but as you increase the throttle then they touch again. Any ideas what I've done and are there any DIY repairs that you could recommend? Thanks in advance

You have likely bent the engine crank shaft... or if you are lucky, Just the blade.
as you increase the RPM the balance difference increases and makes contact.
Check the engine shaft for any run out... If bent you "may" be able to bend it back (youtube) has a few video clips...
There is always a chance that the lower seal can be damaged when the crank is bent... Kenny

Apologies for lack of tech know how - but what do you mean by "run out" ?

The youtube clip will show you how to check for a bent shaft...
You can try bending it back... (other youtube clips show that)...
good luck, post back with what you find. :smile:KennyV
