What height do you set your deck to? Maybe you can set it a notch or two higher to reduce the contacts with sand and other debris.

WoW Patrick  Does someone else get on your mower when you are gone and trim down the rock garden? I've never seen a blade damaged in that way with so little use. Well there was that one time I ran over the anchor from my Jon boat.
Listen, it can't hurt to rule out other possible problems. Your machine has a 3 year warrantee and I understand the blades do not fall under that but if it were mine I would take it too the dealer and have the machine checked for possible engine overspeed. I dunno, just tell them you think it is surging or something. If it came from a box store you will have to call them first and they likely have a local mower shop do their work. If you get that through, have them open full throttle and do a RPM check. If they find no problem, then take your $800 worth of wasted blades with you and show that. Is there a metallic sound coming from the deck when you mow?
