Has anyone changed motor brands on a tiger cub it has a Kawasaki and looking for some different they offer a vanguard for about half the price but not sure if all the wiring and bolt on stuff is the same.

We will need more info, the mower model number, the Kawasaki engine model number... what vanguard you are looking at too.
Most wiring systems can be diced and spliced together provided you know what you're doing... and with the help of experts on here.
The main things when repowering equipment.
Never go less horsepower or torque then the original engine
Make sure the crankshaft is the same length and diameter
you may also have to fabricate, or buy a new muffler.
Most engine mounting to frame patterns are standardized for certain size engines.

The motor that is on there now is FH601v-BS29 I have got a price on a FH721v-S24-soft just over $2000 and a vanguard 386777 for just over $1000 the mower is getting some age on it I would like to go the cheaper route just to get by this year and look at new ones next

You can get a rebuilt Chevy 350 for less than that. Throw an LS1 on and have the baddest mower on the block.
