I got a 77 cub cadet hydrostatic 1250. I am fixing it up for a tug-of-war on asphalt. What kind of modifications could I do to the mower to get it to pull harder and better?
what are the rules LOL. You want as much weight right ahead of the rear wheels and you want to start out as low as possible. Now if you cant add weight you want your hitch height as high as possible.

The rules are:
All parts must be lawn mower parts.
Weight limit is 1000 lbs
Hitch height 16 inches off the ground
Cannot extend the length of the mower other than for the wheelie bar and hitch.
Should I go smaller with the rear tire size? Right now I have 24x12x12 tires and the first pull did not do so well.
The engine is the stock engine so I am pushing max 12 hp.
