Hey boys! - This is my first time on here - and about the second time I've undertaken a mower restoration. I got the little gold Brick Top from a friend and I've been doing some research on it. The resto (or over-resto as I'll probably do! Hahaha!) Seems pretty straight forward - but I DO have a question that you fellows who are brewed and steeped in LawnBoy can probably answer .......

The "Keep your hands and feet from under the mower" admonishment on the front of the deck is also in FRENCH ... What's that all about?? I've yet to see another one (pictures) like it - and I think it MAY be a little special. The problem is - there are some cracks in the deck that need to be welded - but a "regular" deck (whole mower, even) seems to be a bit less than a GOOD welding job would be. Is this French-speaking deck special enough to save? I will - I've made so many car and motorcycle parts against the odds that it put me off a bit ..... I'm just a little curious! Thanks for having the forum - and for any replies!

It is almost certainly a mower originally sold in the Canadian market, then brought down to the states later in it's life.

Thanks, Vervepipes! I suspected as much - I'm just wondering if that makes it any more "speshul" than a "regular" one. I live in Minnesota now - and I can't imagine grass growing for more than a WEEK in Canada ..... Hahaha! This little mower has given me the serious "bug" ..... I like it! :biggrin:

Hey, I know that mower! Welcome to the forum! There is a collective wealth of information on here. Minnesota is a long way from Barberton. HaHa. Maybe Unclelee will chime in on this one, he knows a ton of the history. Wasn't that one a 7210? I think I still have a picture of it.

That little heep COULD be a 7210 .... I think that part of the ID is on that little tag on the back of the deck that's destroyed, isn't it?? That's one reason I'm HERE ..... I'm pretty dumb about the mower - but I LOVES me some top notch restoration! Hahaha! Good to see YOU here, too .... This was one of your recommended sites!

OK guys - a little advice and MORE research (and a gentle slap upside the head!! Hahaha!) has let me know that MY little heep is, indeed, a Model 7210, 21" cut pusher. Apparently, this "speaking French" thing must have been incorporated for the '59 model year - but only on the 21" models ..... I've been looking at all the 18" stuff because I'm apparently not smart enough to read a ruler ...... duh-huh ...... Hahaha!!!

Now, the BIG question ..... Is anyone re-popping the little round badge on the back of the deck that says "21" in the middle and has a place for the model number? I can get one made - or ten - if I have to ...... All this and I haven't even gotten the deck welded yet ...... :laughing:

Hahaha!! - Yeah - I just looked at that badge with the bullet hole in it as well while I was learning to use a ruler again ....... and I'm printing that service info right now!! :wink: This is turning out to be a FUN deal ..... and the one I told you about that I found was an 18" cut (5210) - and I may still take the plunge. You know - so I can have a smaller "trimmer" mower in the collection .....

I know that there are some blank rectangle shaped tags floating around. I have not seen any of the circle shaped though. I know some guys will get a decal made up and place it over the old tag. I have not tried this so I don't know what the final product is like. If you need decals the guy to go to (in my opinion, and most everyone else's LOL) is Sam. He has any eBay store rsmotorsports_racing_collectables. If he doesn't have it, he will go out of his way to have it made. Price is very reasonable, quality is great. I will not buy decals from anyone else. On another note, I am almost done with that edger I had in my garage when you and Jeff came over. It is turning out really nice!

I found some decals for the top tin on eBay - we'll see how they are ..... I may have them re-made in GOOD vinyl if these are cheapo's. I was thinking of printing the little disc decal on 3M foil and affixing it to an alloy disc to make the little emblem. It'd be pretty straight forward - and I can digitise that here and take it to a sign shop and have a sheet of them made. I'm happy to share if I do that, too ......

You have GOT to post a pic or email me a pic of that little trimmer - that was just the coolest thing EVER!! What fun .... Takin' old ones and makin' new ones out of 'em ......

This is my Canadian 3052 ( buttercup). I would agree you have a Canadian machine for sure.
Someone did an over zealous restoration on this one, and when I get around to it I am going to repaint it back to a more original condition.
I am a bit envious as the gold Lawn Boy's have eluded me so far.

CAN a man over-restore something?? Heeheehee! I plan to do the "clearcoat special" on the one that I have ..... 'cuz .... why not? I'll still use it, though ...... :wink:

In some cases an over restore is just what the doctor ordered.
The Atomic Yardmaster shown above is what I believe to be the coolest mower on the planet.

It is a sweet mower...1957 Mono Mower with a two cycle Clinton engine....would just about give the left one to own it...lol

Funny, that .... I just posted a pic of that little hotrod on my Facebook page - and my buddy John Sticha knows the cat owns that little jewel!! How cool is THAT?? I may actually be able to see it in person! It has a chromed blade on it, too ......

If you do get to meet the guy...tell him Uncle Lee said it would look much better in my garage. ..lol
But seriously. ..I would like to know how he got the wheels chromed...I assume he must have had to remove the tires....I would like to learn the process.

None to worry - I'll be on that like ugly on an ape ........ I have changed tires on little steel wheels like those before .... you heat em up and they pretty much just pry right off - same for installation - but I'll sure find out!
