Pumping grease in this type of drive system is going to cause problems, not allowing the enga key to properly catch the drive gear. One maybe two pumps a year is all you need. Second, I can find no record of Lawn Boy making a model 10525, could it be a 10515?
I do once a year in spring and fortunately I have lots of drive axle back up parts....but I know what you mean after tearing down a few junkers and de-greasing the guts inside. PS - the drive line on my 1999 10525 has never been apart.

Did another search and found the 10525, must have screwed up when searching before. Wait, I don’t do that.
