I have a Craftsman GT5000. 26hp Kohler 54 deck manual trans. When it is warmed up it will cutout and die when deck is engaged. Mostly when mowing sometimes in neutral. It feels like ignition miss fire not fuel. I know Kohler's had a lot of coil problems. Could they do this?

There is a reason why there is a pretty little tag under the seat
at a minimum we need to know the numbers on it
The problem that kohler had with the magnetos was trying to do an electronic advance / retard which was fantastic when it worked .
The ones on the singles seemed to hold up well and massively increase the torque so some of those 15 to 19 Hp singles JD used actually run better than the current 24 Hp V twins
Same story for the Kawakasi singles
However Kohler gave up on the system a very long time ago
So bad coils are not a genetic Kohler problem .
Flywheel magnetos on twin cylinder engines using a Hall effect trigger is a problem full stop as the voltage needed to cause the coil to try to fire is very low and there is a lot of ripples transmited between the coils via the kill wires whichare poorly damped using a single diode for each coil.
B & S put them in the wire which is way way over priced , Kohler, Kawakasi & Honda all add then to the Hal effect trigger potted into the coils

Now your problem sounds very much like a twin running on one cylinder which could be as simple as mal adjusted valve lash ( if your engine has solid lifters ) .
But we would only be guessing if we do not know the model & serial numbers of your engine which of course you reote in your owners manual along with the model & serial number of the mower just befor you read the owners manual cover to cover twice , didn't you .
