Mikuni Carburetor (Subaru Part 279-62361-00) on an Subaru EX27 Engine

Thank you Star Tech! So I am clear and don't make any mistakes, this is the size of the hole in the end of the pilot jet that appears to be clogged in my picture? This is the end that goes into the carburetor first when installing the pilot jet. Sorry for my question but I truly appreciate your help!

you can also try using some carb spray from a can with a nozzle, thru one of the small holes, with the opposing one blocked by a finger.

Only suggestion I have is in place of using stabil with your ethanol free fuel is to use sea foam product. I put 8 oz in every 5 gallon container of ethanol free fuel. It not only will stabilize the fuel for at least a year, it also serves as a fuel system cleaner.

Depending on the engine and carb, sometimes it is better to replace the carb with a new one instead of trying to rebuild it.

Try compressed air to blow any debris out. Also if the carb had been subject to E-10 instead of ethanol free fuel, soaking it in vinegar overnight and then blowing everything dry with compressed air will get rid of the white film (which is essentially particles from ethanol and moisture which ethanol based fuels absorb/attract).

Find a tiny drill bit, just barely smaller than the main jet hole. Just push it gently into the hole backwards (the drill chuck end"). Often, the gas will evaporate and leave a clear dry film there. You can see right through that film, thinking it is open. But it's not. Hopefully this will help you.

I’ve used a welding tip cleaning tool. It has maybe 20 small rods in a flip open small hand tool. Think I grabbed from Home Depot years ago.

* The main jet (correct term??) in the tube that is normally unscrewed to remove the jet and then able to clean the tiny holes on the side appears to be pressed into place and cannot be removed. I have not been able to find out if this tube should be removed to clean further, or not. Any thoughts?
* The pilot jet I removed and cleaned the side & top holes but I could not tell if there should be a tiny hole at the bottom of the pilot jet to clean. If there is supposed to be a tiny hole here mine is clogged and I have soaked it in a sonic cleaner but still not able to find a hole. Any thoughts?

Does it surge still with the air cleaner removed?
 
Lots of good answers. most of which right on the money. end of the day all orfices inside any carb need to be free and clear, wie, torch tips, wifes/mothers sewing needles, carb cleaner, micro drill bits (dont break it in the jets). Those Subaru engines were amazing, probably why parts are pretty much null and void. After you get it running, check valve clearances, change your oil annually, regardless of use, and at least store it with ethanol-free fuel. I run ethonal free in everything from my 4-wheeler to my pressure washer. I haven't cleaned my personal carbs since.
