I have a craftsman lawn tractor 11 hp. I can not get it started. I have changed the starter as it was defective. Charged the battery. It will crank but will not fire.
I have been busy trying to start it. Planning to check the spark plug and then the electric system next. I would appreciate any suggestion.:confused2:

Hi Shree. Pull the valve cover and make sure nothing has come loose and everything is properly adjusted. Did the mower work previously? If so, was anything hit or run over on the last use? If so, the flywheel key could be sheared which would throw the timing off. let us know what you find.

Has it been sitting for a long time since it last ran? Was it running ok the last time it ran?

The Mower grinded to a halt. When I removed the starter, I saw that the locking pin had slipped and the top assembly had scattered. I found the top locking nut or assembly at the mouth of the air intake to the carburetor. Due to my insistent effort to start the mower I had discharged the batter, which I charged. So I will take the cover off and see what there.
Thanks for the suggestions.

The mower has been sitting idle since the end of last season. I have not been able to start it this season.
Thanks
Shree
