Bought a 2009 cub LT 1024. Starts, run, until PTO turns on acts like some one pulled the choke. Runs Very rich and floods. Cleaned and rebuilt the Nikki carb. There is a thing they call fuel tower. In that are 2 recessed holes the gas passes through. I think there should jets or something in there. Schematic shows nothing. If I pinch the gas line off it cleans up
You didn't say what engine you have, but I would say either the jet is missing, which is not likely, or the air bleed for the high speed jet is clogged. It is one of the holes on the edge of the carb throat on the air cleaner side. That allows air to mix with the gas in the emulsion tube, which could also be clogged. the other thing is some of the carbs are suppose to have a rubber stopper in one of the holes, and if missing will cause a rich run situation, which could be your case. I think the stopper comes in the carb repair kit.

I have a carb does the same thing. Will only run good if I shut the inline valve almost off.
Go to Cubcadet.com put in the lt1024 and the assembly that you are looking for is engine part 2 The jets are items 117 and 117A that fit in the bottom of the tower. They have a bad habit of falling out when nobody is looking.

Briggs removed the jets from the carb kit either last year or the year before. they are now a separate item, which is a pain, because they have a bad habit of vanishing.
