Just picked up a Pro Z 100 for cheap, but it needs a few things. It's been "rode hard, and put away wet", so I want to do some fairly invasive disassembly (like engine & deck removal), but I can't find a service manual. I found an owner's manual, engine owner's manual, and an illustrated parts list (with diagrams). But no service manual. I changed the oil & oil filter, and I HAVE to think there's an easier way to get to the oil filter than what I did. It's a commercial mower. It should be easier to service than a residential, right?

Model # is 53RWEFJA050.

Thanks.

The closest manual will be the Z-Force S service manual but only the Cub Cadet probably have access the model specify SM. Most of us just have good mechanical knowledge / experience and very good at putting jigsaw puzzles together.

Looks like the only service manual info that offer for that is deck removal, transmission removal, belt replacements, tracking adjustment for the transmissions and how to repair the tapered roller bearing spindles.

I have pretty good mechanical knowledge, too. I've removed a Ford 289 and rebuilt it (ok, my dad and I did it). But that doesn't stop me from taking apart things I don't need to when doing something new. I can always do a job the 2nd time MUCH faster than the first. I'll consult a manual if I haven't done the job before.

I was looking over the owner's manual, and found some of these sections. I don't remember seeing them before. I guess I should read the manual better. :) I didn't see anything on transmission removal, or spindle bearing repair. The spindle bearings look pretty simple. The transmissions... I hope I don't have to dig into those. I have the steering wheel model, and the linkage to the transmissions is WAY more complex than the lap bar models.

Thanks, all for the replies.

That is why I suggested the Z-Force S service manual as it does covers the basics for the steering.

As for the spindles if you have ever done front taper wheel bearings on an auto vehicle it is the same as you preload the bearings by torque the retaining nuts to 90 ft-lbs.

Z-Force manual... thanks.

90 ft-lbs? That seems like a lot. Do you mean 90 in-lbs? Every torque spec I've seen on this mower is spec'ed in in-lbs.

Actually it is even higher as I was thinking about the with 6 pt spindle shafts which are done at 90 ft-lbs. I double checked the SM to be sure and it is 120 ft-lbs
